Year 8 - Sabah Tea

11th - 12th July 2013 - Year 8 had a fantastic overnight excursion to the Sabah Tea plantation.  Below is a description of the trip written by one of the year 8 students.

'The trip was great; we learned many things about tea. We went for the fish massage and it was fun and crazy. We also lived in a longhouse which we have never lived in before or even seen one. Archery was fun. We were divided into teams.

We ate dinner and the food was delicious. After dinner, we went for night walk. We saw a lot of bugs and stars; it was a very tiring night because we had to make one big round in the jungle. We walked for an hour. The stars were shining brightly like a diamond.

After the night walk, we were supposed to go for the campfire. But there were too many red ants so our campfire night was canceled. It was ok because the teachers gave us marshmallows and chocolate sticks to eat for the night.

When we were sleeping, it was very noisy because we had no electricity. The next day, we had to wake up early in the morning, about five o’clock, to get ready for the morning walk at six. During the walk, we went for tea plucking and we had a race to see which class between 8S or 8A will win. At last, 8A won the race. Then, we went to the Sabah Tea factory to see how the tealeaves were processed into Sabah Tea. After that, we ate lunch and it was great.'
